Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics

WABio banner

Modern bioinformatics relies on powerful algorithms to understand complex biological systems and analyze rapidly growing datasets. WABio 2026 -- Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics, is a non-profit event that aims to assemble a latinoamerican network with a deep understanding of the theory behind state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools.

  • When: August 2–7
  • Where: CINVESTAV Irapuato

WABio offers an intensive, hands-on introduction to the mathematical and computational foundations of bioinformatics as well as the design, application, and analysis of algorithms for studying biological systems. Through focused courses, participants will explore algorithms behind key topics such as phylogenetic trees and networks, RNA structure, genome rearrangement, and transcriptomics. The emphasis is on understanding how methods work—not just how to use them.

WABio 2026 is open to students, early-career researchers, and professionals from both quantitative and life science backgrounds.
